Our Journey began in 2015 by conducting a nutritional assessment at a rural school located in the Carpuela High Performance Sports Center. Our objective in the Chota Valley was to evaluate the physical and nutritional development of children participating in the specialized soccer school, “Escuela Juventud Independiente.” As the project progressed, we received a heartfelt letter from a mother expressing gratitude. She shared that her son had regained his confidence and self-esteem through sports and better habits, stating that he felt "thinner and more satisfied with himself." It was at this moment we realized that nutrition and sports were more powerful tools than we had initially thought. Over the past nine years, through 10 projects, we have learned that promoting healthy lifestyles based on sports and comprehensive health can positively influence community development. This approach helps prevent drug and alcohol abuse, gang involvement, domestic violence, and gender-based violence. The motivation generated by sports acts as the spark needed to achieve behavioral changes. We continue to evolve and learn, committed to fostering healthy lifestyles and positive community development.
